PATIENCE REQUIRED

Aston Villa's stand-in captain Gabriel Agbonlahor has pleaded with the Aston Villa fans to remain patient and continue to support them next season as well.

He has also said that fans should not restrain themselves from buying the season tickets after the team fared poorly this season.

Many fans were against the appointment of former Birmingham manager Alex McLeish, but Gabriel Agbonlahor argues that the former Birmingham manager has done a good job considering the huge number of injuries and the limited funds he has been provided with. As a result, he hopes that a next season will be a major improvement over the current one, in which they have flirted with relegation throughout the whole season.

Aston Villa will see facing the likes of Sunderland, West Brom, and Bolton in the next three matches. It provides them with a great opportunity to get a few points on the board, which would once and for all into the relegation fears. It's probably just as well they don't have the distraction of FA Cup football, where the latest fa cup betting odds make the team who knocked Villa out slim favourites to win the competition.

Darren Bent and Stiliyan Petrov have been a huge absentees for Aston Villa this season. While they have missed the goals from Bent, the leadership abilities of Petrov has also been missed in this crucial stage of the season. Bent is expected to be back in the first team action from next season onwards.

“There have been some good times while I have played for the club and hopefully the fans will stick with us through the not-so-good times. If you ask any of the players they will admit it has been a tough season. We started off really well and had some good results and then we’ve had a dip. I think it shows the Premier League is getting harder season by season," Agbonlahor said.

Agbonlahor has been recently appointed their captain of Aston Villa in place of Petrov, who has been diagnosed with leukaemia.
